TRIZ Expert Meeting 2027
The TRIZ Expert Meeting 2027 brings TRIZ practitioners together in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, with a focus on the Contradiction Matrix, Matrix 4.0 and hands-on workshops.
The TRIZ Expert Meeting was created exclusively for TRIZ-trained participants. To join, you should have attended at least a TRIZ basic training or have already applied TRIZ methods successfully to your own problems. Ideally both.
Theme 2027: The Matrix is dead, long live the Matrix!
Learn how to use the well-known Contradiction Matrix in unconventional ways to generate innovations. Get to know tools, updates and new perspectives around the matrix.
TRIZ Expert Meeting 2027: Program and focus areas
- Matrix Upside Down: Heatmap Approach (incl. workshop)
- Apps, software, AI support for Matrix and Inventive Principles
- Building the matrix: Add Inventive Principles from patents to the Matrix (workshop)
- Altshuller’s “lost” inventive principles revisited: useful, include, further develop?
- MATRIX 4.0: What comes after Matrix 2003 and Matrix 2010?
- Business Matrix 3.0: Contradiction Matrix for business challenges
Matrix Upside Down: Heatmap Approach (Thomas Bayer)
Applying Inventive Principles to the matrix and turning the usage upside down: How do we search for the related contradictions using selected principles and what is the benefit? Includes a workshop on the Heatmap logic.
Apps, software, AI support (Dr. Robert Adunka)
Which apps and software tools exist? How can AI support the use of the Matrix and the Inventive Principles to generate ideas efficiently?
Building the matrix (Dr. Robert Adunka, workshop)
How do you get an Inventive Principle into the Matrix? In this group exercise we will derive the contradiction from a current patent, identify the right cell in the matrix, and assign the principle accordingly.
Altshuller’s “lost” inventive principles revisited (Dr. Andreas Späth)
When Genrich Altshuller compiled his 40 IPs, he initially had several more principles under investigation. Those were dropped at the time for lack of proven applications. Decades later those IPs shall be revisited based on modern technological solutions.

MATRIX 4.0 (2022) (Darrell Mann)
What’s next after the 2003 version of the Matrix? Darrell used IP 17 and added a new dimension to the matrix, making it more accurate than ever. Learn how Matrix 2003, Matrix 2010 and Matrix 4.0 were developed and what is state of the art.
Business Matrix 3.0 (Carmen Lehner)
Can the Contradiction Matrix be applied to business challenges as well? How was the data collected? What types of problems can be solved with the Business Matrix?
Language
Slides are fully in English. The speaking language follows the presenters’ native language: Darrell Mann will present in English, other contributions may be in German. Questions and discussions can be in German or English as needed.
